Question by John C: Buying cigars from cigars.com or jrcigars.com?
I am looking into buying cigars from one of two online sellers. These sites are cigars.com and jrcigars.com. Does any one have experience with either of these sites, and could you share some details? Does the packaging have the word “cigar” on it, or would give any person suspicion that there are cigars inside the package? Lastly, can you recommend any good deals around the $ 10-$ 35 range? Thank you!Just to clarify, the price range of $ 10-$ 35 is not just for one cigar. I am interested in a sampler where I could try out a variety of different cigars.

Smoking a cigar is considered one of the symbols of class, royalty, and style. Whether you’re at a party or club, you will find lots of people smoking cigars. In the old days, they were a bit more expensive than other types of smoking. But people love their taste and freshness and prefer them over other vices. The cigar is one of the most widely used forms of socializing and relaxation today.

How is a cigar made? They are manufactured using dried and fermented tobacco. The tobacco used in the manufacturing of the cigars is grown in a significant quantity in the countries of Brazil, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, Philippines and the Eastern United States. Everyone hears about Cuban Cigars, but the reality is that those are merely a small fraction of the popular cigars being smoked.  Although, it is believed that natives of the Caribbean started to smoke them in 10th century.

Back in the old days, each cigar was hand-made and manufactured by using fresh top quality tobacco leaves. During the manufacturing, humidity and numerous other things are kept in mind to keep its taste continuous. During the process, the tobacco leaves are provided with heat so that the water and sugar content can be dried up efficiently. The cigar was also only smoked by the people of elite class. But now everyone is smoking them. No doubt the cigar has changed the taste of smoking in a unique way. If compared to other types of smoking, its preferred globally.

Maintaining the quality, taste, and flavor of the tobacco leaves is usually the job of a top quality humidor. For more information on buying a quality cigar, you can search online as numerous suppliers and manufacturers have their own websites and discussion boards. They provide you detailed information about the cigars and even their history.
Then when you’re ready to make your purchase, you can also place your order online at any of the selected online stores by simply filling out an order form. Online stores offer you your favorite cigar at lower prices than your local stores.

Your cigars are the integral part of each and every celebration, personal pride, and happiness. The cigars are available in many designs, colors and flavors. You just need to buy as per your taste.

Manufacturing of the cigars

Cigars are made up of tobacco leaves. Carefully collected and cleaned and packed manually, the taste of the cigars depends upon these small yet essential stages of manufacturing and packaging. The tobacco leaves are grown in parts of Poland, South Africa and Argentina. Depending upon the way each leaf is packed in the cigar you can categorize into mild, medium and full bodied. The amount of smoke produced in the mouth adds up to the value of the cigar, but this term is totally subjective. There are many brands available in the market and they are individually categorized into different categories for size, flavors, aroma and amount of smoke formed in the mouth.

There are many world famous brands of which the Cuban cigars need special mentioning. The specialty of this brand is the fact that despite being banned by the government it is hot favorite of millions across the globe. Is there a cigar aficionado on your gift list?  Wondering how to choose a decent cigar for a friend or loved one?  Even if you know nothing about cigars or choosing a good cigar, just learning a few basics can help you sniff out (sometimes literally) a good cigar to give to a friend.

Fortunately, cigars have now entered the mainstream.  Once the symbol of the rich and powerful, it’s easier than ever for just about anyone to purchase a good cigar.  Of course, you probably won’t be able to buy your friend a box of top-tier Cuban cigars, but you can definitely buy them a good quality cigar that will put a smile on their face.

First, visit your local tobacconist or specialty smoke shop for the best quality and widest selection.  Avoid ‘drugstore’ cigars.  Although they may be inexpensive and convenient to purchase, drugstore cigars are usually filled with preservatives and generally of poorer quality.  They may contain, at minimum, saltpeter, paper, glycerin, and other preservatives and irritants.  You should make sure that the cigars you purchase are made of 100% tobacco.  If you have any questions regarding the cigars ingredients, ask the salesperson.  An experienced and knowledgeable sales clerk will be able to tell you extensive information about the ingredients.

Your local tobacco shop is a good place to shop because you will generally be allowed to smell and touch the cigars.  Squeeze the cigar gently.  A good quality cigar will give a little when squeezed.  The cigar should be firm, with no excessively soft or hard spots.  Never buy a lumpy cigar. Look at the wrapper.  If you notice any drying or discoloration, best not to buy it.  Ideally, the wrapper should be tight and smooth.  Inspect the color of the tobacco to make sure it is even.  Do this by inspecting the end of the cigar.  Some color variation is normal, but if the color changes abruptly, chances are the cigar was not rolled properly.  A cigar that is not rolled properly may result in an uneven burning and unpleasant odors.

If you’re not sure how much your friend smokes, choose a longer cigar.  Longer cigars tend to have a ‘cooler’ taste—an excellent choice for beginners. If you know your friend is an experienced and regular smoker, choose a cigar that is greater in diameter.  These cigars tend to have a richer flavor that experienced smokers will appreciate.

Every cigar aficionado knows that the very best cigars come from Cuba.  Unfortunately, buying the best can often be a risky proposition.  But many cigar enthusiasts are willing to take the risk to get a taste of the very best.  If you’re wondering just how one would get their hands on a box of Cubans, read on.  Because of the relationship between the United States and Cuba, know that there are a lot of people looking to take advantage of cigar aficionados.  Purchasing Cuban cigars should be done with great caution in order to avoid getting duped.

First, know that importing cigars from Cuba is considered illegal.  The United States placed economic sanctions on the Cuban government in 1963.  Ever since then, Cuban cigars have become the holy grail of cigar enthusiasts.  There is, however, one loophole: visitors to Cuba who return from a sanctioned and licensed visit are allowed to bring back cigars.  However, visitors are not able to bring back more than $100 worth of cigars, and they must be intended for personal use, and not for resale.

Any other ways of obtaining Cuban cigars is considered illegal.  It is in fact illegal to buy, sell or trade Cuban cigars in the United States.  Fines for illegal trading, buying or selling of Cuban cigars may face up to $55,000 in civil fines.  This type of fine, however, is quite rare.  The more likely scenario is that you’ll have your cigars confiscated.

When purchasing a box of Cuban cigars, be prepared to fork over quite a bit of your cash.  Prices can range from about $150 to $500 or more.  If you’re offered a box below these prices, chances are it may not be the real thing.  Most Internet businesses that sell purportedly genuine Cuban cigars tend to be imitations.  Always avoid shops or retailers that offer “discounted” Cuban cigars.

How to get your hands on the real thing?  The easiest way to get a box of authentic Cuban cigars is to head north to Canada.  Buy them in Canada and repackage them so that they are not in their original Cuba packaging.  Remove the rings and place the cigars in a different box.  Customs agents tend to not inspect cigars carefully, and it is generally not considered a serious offense to bring Cuban cigars into the United States.  In fact, many clerks at tobacco shops will even offer to repackage Cuban cigars for you.

The Cohiba brand is usually recognized for the top quality of their cigars, but they also provide excellent humidors as well. The Cohiba humidor exhibits the same excellence in execution and design as the Cohiba cigars.

The Cohiba humidor is not widely manufactured; they only have a limited number of humidors in mind when they produce this wonderful humidor. An example of this would be the limited production Cohiba Cigars Humidor. They come as a collector’s item and there are only 250 of them produced worldwide.

This Cohiba humidor has a capacity of 50 – 70 cigars; it is handcrafted and features the Cuban Cohiba box label on its lid. The finish of this humidor is high gloss with a clear two part varnish, thus what we see is a super high gloss finish that just exudes sophistication. The finish is done with no less than fifteen layers of aircraft quality hard Polyurethane super-high gloss, and then its hand-polished to an extremely high sheen – truly sensational.

The inside of the Cohiba humidor is lined with Spanish cedar that is the preferred wood for humidors as it improves the aroma of any cigar stored inside and repels those tobacco beetles.  The Spanish cedar lining is also finished with fifteen layers of high gloss lacquer. The dimensions of the humidor are 12 by 9 by 5, and it also features a removable cigar tray.

A few features that comes along with the Cohiba humidor is a Sureflow Cigar Humidification system, a hygrometer, a Lock and Key, a removable cigar tray, and adjustable cigar dividers.

The Cohiba humidor can be found online and priced at around $270, with additional shipping fees depending on your location. Always remember that these will need to be pre-ordered due to the limited number of humidors available.

Needless to say, this is one beautiful top of the line humidor that is at par with the excellence associated with the Cohiba brand. From its design, to its finish, to the quality of the materials used, this definitely is a collector’s dream humidor. It not only has all the desired qualities of a humidor, keeping those cigars safe and supple for the future, it is also aesthetically pleasing that will be a great addition to any room.

Even if you’re not buying dollhouse miniatures for yourself, surely you’d rather ensure your purchase or gift would be put to good use? If so, you need to spend a bit more time and effort than you intended on finding the best dollhouse miniature for your needs. Picking a dollhouse miniature is not much different from picking out your dream home. There’s more to it than mere looks and size, and you’ll find this out for yourself in a while.

Dollhouse Scales
Choosing the right scale is critical. Standard scales give you a wider variety of accessories and furniture to choose from while the less common scales may require you to order for custom-built supplies, which are not only more expensive but they may also not match the professional quality of standard dollhouse decor.

99% of dollhouse miniatures use the 1:12 scale. This means that the size of the dollhouse is 1/12 of the size of its actual, real-life equivalent. Some retail stores and online shops may, however, also offer a selection of dollhouse miniatures at 1:24 (half the size of the 1:12 and perfect for those with limited space available for their dollhouse collection) and 1:2 (Barbie-sized dollhouses) scales.

Dollhouse Budget
Having dollhouse miniatures as a hobby need not be expensive! Remember: these don’t come with an expiry date and as long as you take good care of it, you can take all the time you want when decorating your dollhouse. By purchasing accessories or decor one at a time, you can ensure that they don’t even make a slightest dent on your pocket.

Dollhouse kits can sell for as low as $40 but you might also chance upon kits sold at a bargain price during sales or from auction sites and second hand retailers.

Age Suitability
Something basic and pre-built and pre-designed would be more than suitable for young girls. A too-small scale or a dollhouse that has to be built from scratch might require intricate steps of installation and be frustrating for the child.

Dollhouse Size
Keep in mind that we’re talking about the size and not the scale of your dollhouse. Beginners would do well to start with a small or moderate-sized dollhouse. You could afford to commit a few decorating or building mistakes with this. Dollhouse lighting, wallpapers and curtains, flooring, and assembly are the most complicated parts you’ll have to tackle when building a dollhouse.

But all these can be learned and mastered over time and soon, you’ll have more than enough skills and expertise to move on to a bigger dollhouse.

Know the basics of shopping for dollhouse miniatures.
