The Bible talks about an interesting usage for the Apple; it says that the Apple could refresh the one who is sick with love.  The Noble Quran does not mention the Apple but it talks about the fruits in general.  The Quran says: for those who merit Paradise, i.e. the inhabitants of Paradise, they have different kinds of fruit therein and, therein, they have whatever they ask or call for, they have whatever they desire or wish for.

The Apple in the Bible

In the Bible King Solomon says in his Song:

I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.

As a lily among brambles, so is my love among the young women.

As an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

Sustain me with grape-cakes; refresh me with apples, for I am sick with love.

His left hand is under my head, and his right hand embraces me!

Upon reading this Biblical song, one may ask if the Bible is a book that teaches the religion or a book that teaches the private hot issues happening between men and women!

In the Noble Quran, the great Prophet King Solomon does not say such a song.

Song of Solomon 2:1-6 in four different versions of the Bible:

New International Version

1 I am a rose of Sharon,  a lily of the valleys.

2 Like a lily among thorns  is my darling among the maidens.

3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my lover among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

4 He has taken me to the banquet hall,  and his banner over me is love.

5 Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.

6 His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me.

American Standard Version

1 I am a rose of Sharon, A lily of the valleys.

2 As a lily among thorns, So is my love among the daughters.

3 As the apple-tree among the trees of the wood, So is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, And his fruit was sweet to my taste.

4 He brought me to the banqueting-house, And his banner over me was love.

5 Stay ye me with raisins, refresh me with apples; For I am sick from love.

6 His left hand is under my head, And his right hand doth embrace me.

King James Version

1I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

2As the lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.

3As the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloved among the sons. I sat down under his shadow with great delight, and his fruit was sweet to my taste.

4He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.

5Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.

6His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.

Young’s Literal Translation

1As a lily among the thorns,

2So [is] my friend among the daughters!

3As a citron among trees of the forest, So [is] my beloved among the sons, In his shade I delighted, and sat down, And his fruit [is] sweet to my palate.

4He hath brought me in unto a house of wine, And his banner over me [is] love,

5Sustain me with grape-cakes, Support me with citrons, for I [am] sick with love.

6His left hand [is] under my head, And his right doth embrace me.

The Apple in the Quran

The Noble Quran does not mention the Apple but it talks about the fruits in general.  The Quran says: for those who merit Paradise, they have different kinds of fruit therein and, therein, they have whatever they ask or call for, they have whatever they desire or wish for.

Verses 36: 55-58 talk about the fruits in the afterlife for those who merit Paradise i.e. the inhabitants of Paradise.

————————————–

The meaning of verse 36: 55

Indeed, this day which is the Day of Judgment, those who merit Paradise i.e. the inhabitants of Paradise are busy; they are delighting in pleasures; they are not tiring with anything wearisome, as there is no toil in Paradise; they are blissful and rejoicing in comfort.

The meaning of verse 36: 56

For those who merit Paradise, i.e. the inhabitants of Paradise, they and their wives are in pleasant shade; in other words, no sunlight affects them. They and their wives are on thrones reclining; reclining upon couches (the word couches in Arabic is pronounced as “Ara’ik”, which is the plural of ar?ka.  Ar?ka is a bed inside a curtained canopy, or the bedding therein on thrones reclining)

The meaning of verse 36: 57

For those who merit Paradise, i.e. the inhabitants of Paradise, they have different kinds of fruit therein and, therein, they have whatever they ask or call for, they have whatever they desire or wish for.

The meaning of verse 36: 58

  1. For those who merit Paradise, i.e. the inhabitants of Paradise, Allah, the Lord of the worlds will greet them with the word “Peace”; they are greeted with the greeting of peace!   In other words, Allah, the Merciful Lord will say to them, ‘Peace be on you!’

Verses 36: 55-58 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:

Verse 36: 55

QARIB: indeed, the companions of the garden are this day busy in their rejoicing.

SHAKIR: surely the dwellers of the garden shall on that day be in an occupation quite happy

PICKTHAL: lo! those who merit paradise this day are happily employed,

YUSUFALI: verily the companions of the garden shall that day have joy in all that they do;

Verse 36: 56

QARIB: together with their spouses, they shall recline on couches in the shade.

SHAKIR: they and their wives shall be in shades, reclining on raised couches

PICKTHAL: they and their wives, in pleasant shade, on thrones reclining;

YUSUFALI: they and their associates will be in groves of (cool) shade, reclining on thrones (of dignity);

Verse 36: 57

QARIB: they shall have fruits and all that they call for.

SHAKIR: they shall have fruits therein, and they shall have whatever they desire

PICKTHAL: theirs the fruit (of their good deeds) and theirs (all) that they ask;

YUSUFALI: (every) fruit (enjoyment) will be there for them; they shall have whatever they call for;

Verse 36: 58

QARIB: peace, a saying from the most merciful lord.

SHAKIR: peace: a word from a merciful lord

PICKTHAL: the word from a merciful lord (for them) is: peace!

YUSUFALI: “peace!” – a word (of salutation) from a lord most merciful!

This is one of those eternal questions men ask themselves in the, usually, vain attempt to understand women. However, the answer is most of the time simple and plain to see. Women love in men a series of physical traits that are largely common and determined at genetic level and also certain features that vary from one person to another.

The physical side is rather simple since physical beauty is hard-coded in our genes. The tall, handsome man with a deep voice and a style that is practically oozing virility is guaranteed to be a hit with most women. His physical side is good. However, if he says something stupid every time he opens his trap, then it’s quite clear he would have to make do with women who either do not notice or do not care.

But almost any lack of lustre on the physical side can be made up by another skill. Just as the basic physical attraction is almost always guided by the same principles, environment shapes people into different patterns. Some women learn to appreciate men who know how to carry an intelligent conversation and have good manners. Others like men who can cook and are willing to wash the dishes. Others are not interested in anything but sex with as many interesting partners as they can get their hands on. And, finally, some like quiet, well-bred men who will provide for their financial and physical needs for the rest of their lives.

Quite frankly, women like in men about the same things men like in women and for the same reasons, although women do emphasize the personal touch and the social skills. However, they tend to go about it in a different manner, which men find confusing.

Domestic violence against men is an all too real issue that doesn’t get as much attention as it should. There are an overwhelming number of domestic violence statistical data illustrating domestic violence against women. But, there is also plenty of evidence of men being subjected to domestic violence, as well. Some statistics suggest that out of every 100 reported domestic violence cases, about 40 of them are against men.

One of the biggest supporters against domestic violence against both men and women is Patti Austin, the 2007 Grammy award winning singer / songwriter. She was so moved by this “epidemic” that she started the Blue Movement in support of the victims of domestic violence. In fact, she was so moved by the story she saw on Oprah that she wrote a song called “By the Grace of God” as a way to speak out against domestic violence.

The month of October is designated as domestic violence month. As such, it is important for lawmakers and the general population to consider elevating the issue of domestic violence in support of a gender neutral movement. According to one report, there were an estimated 800,000 reported cases of domestic violence against men last year.

Domestic violence whether against men or women should not be tolerated. It’s somewhat understandable how women might get a wider audience of support, considering society views them as more vulnerable. And, of course, cases like the Annie Le murder at Yale or the Jaycee Dugard abduction capture the minds of the American populace. The perpetrators for the most part are men, but in the case of Dugard, the perpetrator was also his wife.

What many people fail to consider is that domestic violence against men, like women, happen in many different ways. Let’s look at the very visible case of Christopher Savoie. At face value, this may not appear to be domestic violence, but the man is now in jail because his wife abducted their children and took them to Japan. She was U.S. court had issued an arrest warrant for the mother!

According to a report by The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, they studied 11,000 men and women involved in domestic violence cases. What they found was that in 50% of the cases, the domestic violence involved both parties. And, an interesting fact, the woman was the first to strike. One other interesting revelation was that when the violence was one-sided, 70% of the time the perpetrator was the woman.

Another interesting statistic shows that domestic violence against men has more than doubled in the last 10 years. The actual numbers are probably even higher, because like in many domestic violence cases, they often are not reported. And, even when reported the victims and perpetrators often change their stories.

No matter how you look at the information, domestic violence against men or women is a bad thing. It’s bad for the parties involved, hurts communities and destroys families. Let’s all just hope that we find a way to educate everyone of this terrible travesty.

David Chan wrote an article about how a leader should position himself or herself to end domestic violence, you can find it on his blog at http://davidkchan.com.

The Problem

O.k. Guys so you can’t figure out how to get a girl to like you in the way you had intended. Unfortunately your feminine side came screaming out and instead of being romantically involved, you are there with her watching lifetime doing your nails and letting her test her new “Hair-be-gone” on your legs. Hey don’t shoot the messanger you got yourself into this mess not me. So lets do a little house cleaning shall we? We’ll get you back on track no worries.

When a girl says she wants a nice, sensitive guy, don’t run out and get a “build-a-Bear” and sniffle during the chick flick you took her to. Technically speaking that may be what they want, it’s human nature and it sounds right, but when reality bares it’s head female instinct says she likes a guy who will take control and act like a man. Let’s look at what happens when….

What happens when.. you take a girl to an expensive dinner, buy her something on instinct and spoiling her at no expense? She thanks you for the lovely time and goes out with another guy. Dang!

What happens when.. you just can’t wait to call that beauty right after a great date cause you had such a great time (so you thought) and she’s coming off as awkward and rushing through the call just to get you off the phone. Am I right?

The Solution

Now Let’s change it up a bit for the sake of variety…

What Happens when.. you don’t call a girl and you’re habitually busy, and really could care less if you see her again or not? She’s calling you every few hours right?

What Happens when.. you go out for a quick brew and act like she’s your happy hour pal? She starts to feel an attraction because you are’nt being the “jump” “How High”? kinda guy. Do you get a feel for where I’m coming from?

Now Don’t go misunderstanding confidance to being a total jerk. To get a girl to like you and show some interest Don’t come off as shy or awkward it will turn her off. You will gain more ground if you lead the way without talking about it. Keep away from dull and lifeless and step up to fun and spontaneous.

Make her laugh, don’t give her too much info about yourself keep some mystery about you and let her wonder. Be interesting and please leave your game night talk at home. Show some direction with your goals and show you have a solid plan for your life, other than a 52″ Plasma and the “Boys” coming over on monday night to knock some down.

This is just some starting points for you to head in the right direction so let’s do a brief review and wrap up. Be a man, Keep Busy not too readily available, be obscure, have a plan, be calm, fun and confident (not arrogant) start off simple but purposeful and never, I repeat, never let her put some warm goop on your legs and tell you it isn’t going to hurt. Until the next time cowboy, peace and be well.

A few years ago, in 2006, the Nevada legislature imposed a public smoking ban.

The new rule doesn’t apply – as yet – to the storied casinos of Las Vegas, where smoking is still allowed on gaming floors. And of course Nevada is hardly the only recent state to impose restrictions on public smoking. Indeed, it joins over thirty states (at this writing) with such laws on the books. If you are reading this from the United States, it is likely that a similar law applies to your area: half the country’s population is currently under the jurisdiction of a public-smoking regulation of some kind.

But the idea of a smoking ban passing the Nevada legislature seems almost like a kind of spiritual defeat for cigar smokers: after all, what could more epitomize “cigar cool” than the mental image of Frank Sinatra’s Rat Pack, cigars and drinks in hand, finger-popping their ways through the floor of a Vegas casino?

It just symbolizes a fact that’s made passionate smokers’ lives a little more difficult over the past decade: in the interest of public health (and out of consideration for asthmatics and others), more and more city councils and state legislatures are choosing to ban public smoking outright, or are limiting it to certain licensed facilities.

Arguments about the effectiveness or appropriateness of these bans to one side, we can all agree that they mean that smokers have to put a little more energy into planning vacations. For a person who loves the taste of a good cigar, for whom relaxation doesn’t become meaningful until there’s a stogie involved, there’s no point in a vacation where you can’t even smoke in your hotel room. With smoking bans underway in Atlantic City (and this ban extends to casinos) and similar one-time bastions of cigar culture, frustrated cigar smokers are turning to a new option: the cruise ship.

And why not? Cruise ship vacations offer the ultimate chance to “get away from it all,” a continuous expanse of blue water, and the opportunity to meet interesting people from all over the country (and world). Few cruises are completely smoke-free, with most offering, at the very least, designated smoking areas that might include cigar bars or lounges. So it’s hard to go completely wrong – wherever you book your passage, you’ll almost always have at least some chance to smoke.

More and more luxury cruise lines don’t allow smoking in living quarters – that’s one downfall. After all, the next person using your room might be a nonsmoker, and it doesn’t make economic sense for cruise ship directors to designate permanent “smoking” and “nonsmoking” rooms; such a move would involve logistical nightmares during booking. But luxury quarters often include balconies, where smoking is sometimes still allowed.

The recent case of a cruise line headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida gives smokers an indication of what they can expect. The cruise line, according to some reports, lost millions in bookings after instituting a partial smoking ban in 2007. But compared to those bans that have caused smokers such dismay in Atlantic City and Ottawa, the Florida-based cruise line’s smoking ban doesn’t even apply to the on-ship bars and casinos.

Indeed, the cruise ship industry seems to be following the opposite track of most US states and municipalities – as they grow more restrictive toward smoking, cruise lines are growing more permissive. One completely smoke-free cruise ship line went out of business awhile ago; another once-smokeless line changed its policies to allow some smoking on the boat.

Smokers will likely want to evaluate cruise line policies prior to booking as there are has examples of ships with almost smoke-free policies. Smoking on such lines may only be permitted in two designated areas – and if you light up anywhere else, you could be kicked off the boat! (That presumably doesn’t mean you’ll be forced to walk the plank, but it’s probably not worth finding out.)

Another rule of thumb mentioned by several travel writers: if you’re looking for company as you smoke, go for a cruise line with a high number of European and Asian clientele. Citizens of many of these countries often still smoke in higher numbers than do contemporary Americans, and there is a Spain-based cruise line that currently sports the least restrictive smoking policy out there.

CigarFox provides you the opportunity to build your own sampler of the finest cigars that include cigar brands like Montecristo, Romeo & Julieta, H Upmann, Macanudo, Cohiba, Partagas, Gurkha and many more. What are some of your favorite cigar moments? Here are a few reasons to enjoy the experience, taste and aroma of premium and super-premium cigars:

1. After a wedding when the groomsmen are enjoying a moment amongst themselves, and celebrating the groom’s good fortune.
2. After the birth of a child, whether it’s your child, a niece, nephew, Godchild or the child of a colleague.
3. After the commencement ceremony for your favorite protégé or ward.
4. After purchasing your first home and evaluating the work and hope ahead of you.
5. After selling your first home for a handsome profit and remembering the rewards of work and the pleasure of work rewarded.
6. After burning the mortgage, and knowing that there will never be another payment. The place is yours, lock, stock and barrel.
7. After leaving the factory job for the last time.
8. After the best dinner you’ve ever had.
9. After the best and most complete play, concert or opera you’ve ever attended.
10. With the rest of the campers at the end of a hike in the woods or in the desert.
11. Beside the garden wall when there is a break from the labor of working with your hands in the good earth.
12. While standing and surveying the view of a field of harvest, full of the promise of work and the promise of prosperity, while remembering the planting of that field.
13. While working on a vintage automobile like a convertible Cadillac from the 1970’s.
14. After negotiating for–and getting–a vintage automobile.

As you can see, there is a wonderful tradition of celebration and the constancy connected to the smoking of a great cigar. The sentiment and sensation of cigars and pipes are part of understanding the cigar consumer. Therefore, the best way to give a cigar is by purchasing them either through reputable online stores, many of which will sell and ship them gift-wrapped, or by purchasing them through tobacconists and fine cigar and pipe stores.

Remember that quality cigars are hand-rolled and custom made. There are countless ways to find out what kind of cigars would be best suited as a gift. For example, select according to smoke time. A good cigar will have a smoke time of 20 to 60 minutes, depending on its size and style. Other factors are color and aroma.

Whatever the celebration and whatever the occasion, giving and receiving fine premium or super-premium cigars–or just enjoying them on your own–will top off the pleasure of each experience and enhance life’s special moments. The best part of the cigar experience is to discover what moments you can plan for cigar enjoyment. So start with giving and receiving premium cigars, and then let them accompany all your great life celebrations.

In the mid of the thirteenth century, the great English scholar Kevin Bacon found that a lot of people suffered a lot from not being able to see clearly the words and characters on books because of the poor eyesight. And it occurred to him one day to invent a tool to help people improve their eyesight. However despite the great effort he made doing experiments, the idea never panned out.

One day after rain, Bacon was taking a stroll in the garden when he saw some raindrops sticking to a spider web. Looking through the raindrops, he found to his excitement that the veins had been enlarged. Immediately he ran back home and searched throughout the house for a glass bead. But behind the glass bead the words on the paper were still vague. So he cut a piece down from the glass bead using a diamond and a hammer. Putting the piece of glass near the paper, the words were really enlarged! It was successful and Bacon almost thrilled. Later he found a chip of wood, pierced a round hole in it, put the glass bead in and equipped it with a handle. With this it was more convenient for people to read and write. It is what we call today eyeglasses.

The lenses of the glasses were improved again and again and eventually developed into the kind people wear today. And there are a several kinds: glasses for nearsightedness, presbyopia lenses and so on. It can be said a great contribution that Bacon made for the human society.

However it is generally believed that glasses first appeared in Firenze, Italy and they were first made an Italian in the city of Pizza. In 1825, an English astronomer invented the glasses that could correct astigmatism. There is not much record about the origin of glasses in China but someone say that they showed up in the mid of Ming Dynasty because it has been observed in a picture preserved since that time an old man with spectacles. And in the Qing Dynasty glasses were already well spread.
